Your data is none of our business.
Privacy Policy for Kept · Last updated June 11, 2026
Kept is a personal cash tracking app for people who deal in physical notes, including travelers carrying more than one currency. This policy explains, in plain language, how Kept handles information. The summary is simple: Kept does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data.
What we collect
Nothing. Kept has no account system, no sign-in, no analytics, and no advertising. We have no servers that receive your data, and no databases about you. We cannot see what you record, and we do not want to.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter is stored only in the app's private storage on your phone:
- Your cash entries and notes about them
- Your wallet breakdowns, note by note, per currency
- Your work shifts, gigs and collected pay
- Your settings, achievements and optional profile name and photo
None of this ever leaves your device unless you export it yourself as a backup file. When you uninstall Kept, your device's operating system removes this data.
Backups are yours alone
Kept can save your data as a backup file and restore from one. Backup files are created on your device and saved wherever you choose. We never receive, access, or store them. Treat a backup file like cash: whoever holds the file can read it, so keep it somewhere you trust.
The app lock
You can protect Kept with a PIN and with your fingerprint or face. The PIN is stored on your device in a salted, hashed form, never as plain text. Biometric checks are performed entirely by your device's operating system; Kept only learns whether the check passed.
Network access
Kept works fully offline and never needs an internet connection for your data. The only network activity in the app is the standard Google Play mechanism that checks whether a newer version of Kept exists, which is handled by Google Play itself.
Purchases
Kept offers one optional, one-time Pro unlock. The payment is processed entirely by Google Play; we never see or store your payment details. Refer to Google's privacy policy for how Google handles payment information.
The beta program
If you ask to join the Android beta, you email us your name and the email address of your Google account. We use that address for exactly two things: adding you to the Google Play tester list, and replying with your install link. We do not add you to any mailing list, and you can ask us to remove you from the tester list at any time.
Kept for Web
Kept for Web (in beta) follows the same rules: everything you enter is stored locally in your own browser's site storage, on your device, with no account and no server-side storage. Nothing is sent to us. Because it is browser storage, it is erased if you clear browsing data for the site or use a private window, so the app reminds you to save a backup file. This policy will be updated if Kept for Web ever adds optional accounts or cloud backup.
This website
This website practices what the app preaches. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from third parties; even the fonts are served from this site. Your theme choice (light or dark) is remembered only in your own browser. The beta and feedback forms compose an email in your own mail app; nothing is submitted to or stored by this website.
Children's privacy
Kept is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Because Kept collects nothing, changes are expected to be rare and minor.
